AN INVITATION FROM PRESIDENT ETHAN WILLIS OF THE GILBERT ARIZONA SEVILLE STAKE

“Now is the time for you and for me to prepare for the Second Coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ.”

“Now is the time for us to make our discipleship our highest priority. In a world filled with dizzying distractions, how can we do this?” –President Nelson

During this Easter Season we can remember Him by heeding the words of President Nelson to “make discipleship to Jesus Christ our highest priority”. We can do this by removing the dizzying distractions in our lives and replacing them with daily acts of devoted discipleship.

Your Invitation

There are 63 days from now until Easter Sunday. I invite you to participate in a distraction-to-discipleship audit every day until Easter morning.

ASK

Find a quiet place to begin each day with a morning prayer to Heavenly Father and ask Him for the Holy Ghost to lead you to ways you can replace distractions with ways to grow your discipleship.

ACT

Throughout the day, courageously do what the Spirit prompts you to do. Distractions come in many different forms—some are not spiritually uplifting, while others could be considered good activities, yet they distract you from what really matters. As the Spirit identifies your unique areas of distraction, you may be led to replace them by spending more time in the scriptures, serving others, mending a relationship, expressing love to your family, doing family history, going to the temple, inviting a friend to church, or other acts of discipleship. Whatever the Spirit dictates, go forward with faith and do it!

ACKNOWLEDGE

At the end of the day, report back to the Lord in sincere prayer to express gratitude and acknowledge how He guided you throughout the day.

A Special Promise

As we celebrate the rolling away of the stone, this Easter season, let us roll away the dizzying distractions in our lives and do all we can to make discipleship to our Redeemer our highest priority. I promise as you do this you will have a greater sense of clarity, joy and purpose in your life—and an increased ability to feel the love of Jesus Christ.

“The ultimate test of our discipleship is found in our willingness to give up and lose our old self and submit our heart and our whole soul to God so that His will becomes ours….I pray that each of us, in our time and turn, will be able to declare, with covenant confidence, to our Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ that “what works for Thee works for me.” –Elder Soares, “Aligning Our Will with His”

I know the Holy Ghost will prompt you to know customized ways to demonstrate your wholehearted discipleship.

“For they that are wise and have received the truth, and have taken the Holy Spirit for their guide, and have not been deceived.” (D&C 45:47)
