We can trust in prophetic promises. President Nelson promised that we will make better decisions every day as we read the Book of Mormon—every day. He promised us protection from the world’s mind-numbing addictions and answers to the specific questions in our lives. Let us remember Naaman who wanted to be healed more than anything. He rightly sought the counsel of the prophet and was told by him to wash in the river Jordan. Naaman thought the answer was ridiculous and too simple for his complex problem. He was even offended. He was encouraged by his servant to heed the counsel of the prophet, and as he did so, he was healed (2 Kings 5:1-16).

Similarly, with President Nelson’s simple, yet powerful, promise to read daily from the Book of Mormon, we too can look beyond the mark. In a real sense, we are Naaman, and the living prophet of God is telling us how to access the safety, clarity, and healing we seek. We simply need to wholeheartedly heed the prophet’s words and claim the Lord’s promises. “I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass (Alma 37:6).”
